Six Healing Sounds Qigong

Picture
More workshops in 2018
Based on an ancient Chinese Buddhist practice that uses movement, breath and toning to harmonise, de-stress, detoxify and bring fresh energy to the body. The healing sounds qigong practice dates back over 2500 years and is used to expel energy and heat from the internal organs and to release emotion held in the body.

Our bodies are energy and vibration and sound is a vibrational medium that can re-harmonise our cells, organs and functioning systems, as well as to relax and renew us mentally and emotionally.

This workshop brings together sound and intention to facilitate powerful self healing through use of the voice, tone and vibration. No singing or previous toning experience is required. Qigong is a gentle movement practice, no mat/floor work, suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

The Sensory Sessions - workshop

The Sensory Sessions are an exploration of mindfulness through the senses, we'll take you on a two hour journey that explores mindfulness through movement, stillness and sound, as well as touch, taste and smell! Each session is unique, we combine the gentle movement practice of Integrative Qigong with Sound Meditation and a range of Stillness-based practices that engage the senses.

One of the most direct and effective ways we can experience and practice mindfulness is through our senses. Returning to our senses helps us to be full engaged in the present moment, instead of dipping into ‘default’ mode where we can be focussed on the past or in the future. Through practicing sensory mindfulness you might notice that you see colours more brightly, taste food more and feel more present in your body, you might make the delightful discovery of a whole world of sensory richness which you previously hadn’t even realised you were missing! These sessions also build self awareness and promote body-mind connection, while providing participants with an opportunity for retreat, restoration and relaxation.

Taoist Philosophy & Health

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the state of our Qi determines the state of our health. If Qi is flowing freely in a balanced manner throughout the body we have good health, if it becomes blocked, stagnant or imbalanced illness will follow. In Traditional Chinese Medicine health is considered not just the absence of disease but it is the presence of vitality and wellbeing.

‘Health is like water in a well: the importance of the water can never be realised until the well is dry’

This evening workshop will exploring Taoist health and philosophy through the Etymology of Qi, Three Treasures, Small Heavenly Cycle, Intermingling of Fire & Water and Fang Song Gong. We will bring together these ancient roots and branches with meditation and an Integrative Qigong movement practice.
